Teaching toddlers and children about Shabbos and Jewish holidays takes on a whole new meaning with the “Touch and Feel” book series by Kehot Publication Society.
The 12 soft-cardboard pages broaden the imagination of young readers as they begin to explore the world – and the Jewish lifestyle they see at home, kindergarten or shul.
Tastefully illustrated by Boruch Becker, the full color images bring the motions to life as a Jewish boy and girl – as the Rebbe once pointed out to include both – get excited about choosing fish for Shabbos, enjoy the smell of fresh Challah and bask in the glow of the Shabbos candles.
In the 2011 published “A Touch of Chanukah” book, written by Sylvia Rouss, children will not only hear the story of the holiday of lights told by a father to his children, but also get to actually experience the tale with their fingers.
Beginning with the Maccabees’ shiny shields, the rough clay oil jug they found, and continuing with the waxy candles used for the Menorah and the sticky jelly in middle of the doughnuts, miracles never felt so tangible.
Both new books Touch of Chanukah and Touch of Shabbat are available on KehotOnline.com for a discounted price. A great children’s gift for any occasion.
My son got this as a gift for his first birthday. He loves it!
looks beautiful, however why not have used the “Rambam’s” Menorah?
but that donut on the cover is making me hungry!
