More Tefillin, anyone?
Rabbi Laibel Berkowitz, Director of Chabad of North Alabama in Huntsville, AL, has in his possession a few lost pairs of Tefillin and is asking the public to help him find their owners.
He found the pairs being sold at Unclaimed Baggage Center (UBC) in Scottsboro, about 30 minutes from his Chabad House in Huntsville. The retail store is the Nation’s only merchant of unclaimed and lost airline baggage and its contents.
“After the recent story about a Florida Rabbi finding 7 pairs, I decided to head over there and see what else is available,” Berkowitz told COLlive. “I found another four pairs.”
He added, “I also arranged with the management that if any more come in to contact me directly and I will buy it from them.”
Now, he hopes the public will help him find who they belong to. The notice has been posted on COLlive’s Facebook page and can be shared with friends.
If you are the owner, email: [email protected].
found a pair of Tefillin in cow hide printed case……anyone lost it?
I left my tefillin in a yellow taxi in nyc like 3-4 years ago and shortly after I got a new pair.
The driver seemed ant semetic I didnt have medallion number and for a few months it wasnt at the l&f.
The driver was an arab and I highly doubt its still in lost and found. Should i give up on finding it? any tips?
Yasher koach Laibel!
how hard do the airlines try to find the owners? I’m sure all those who lost their tefillin submitted a report right away. Even if nobody can read Hebrew these are very distinctive items that should be easy to identify. How does it get shipped to Alabama to be resold without making every effort to find the owners?
I’ve been there. Lots of lost luggage goes there and it’s all for resale. There were no tefillin the day I was there, but someone’s souvenir purchases from the Olive Wood factory in Israel. There’s one main (official) store, and then a bunch of small ones (claiming the same). The official one has a tiny museum of interesting things found i.e. shtreimel, shofar, movie props.
if no one claims luggage then go to auction ppl buy it ussally ppl that have thrift shops and then sell the items
your post would be more beautiful with 10 less words
