Who We Are
Montreal Zal is a Yeshiva defined by pnimiyus, authenticity, and a deep sense of purpose.
Our very name reflects our mission: Mont – demands – real. “Chabad Mont Pnimiyus” – real avodah, real hiskashrus, real growth. Rooted in the holy words and mission statement of our Rebbeim as articulated in Hayom Yom of 1 and 7 Tammuz – Torah learning with Mesirus Nefesh, and that a Bochur’s growth does not end with himself – the Zal stands as a living continuation of that vision.
Our Yeshiva is adorned with the tremendous kiruvim and kochos granted to us by the Rebbe, and we strive to live every day under that responsibility. “Tachas Hanesius” is not a slogan here—it is our mission statement. It defines how we learn, how we daven, and how we grow. The Rebbe spoke extensively to our bochurim, and those words are not history; they are guidance that continues to shape the inner world of the Zal today.
Who Is Who – Our Maggidei Shiur and Mashpi’im
The heart of Montreal Zal is its maggidei shiur and mashpi’im—individuals who do not merely teach Torah, but live it. Each brings a distinct voice, style, and strength, while sharing a common commitment to sincerity and connection.
“Our Maggid Shiur Rabbi Fisher,” says Mendel Silverstein, a Bochur currently in Shiur Alef, “opens up sugyos with clarity and depth, and help us think independently and creatively. Every one of us receives his special attention and devotion”.
Hatamim Mendel Goldman of Shiur Alef: “Our mashpia Reb Tzvi Hirsh Gurary’s farbrengens are very Geshmak, always down to earth and relevant. In his Shiurim, the Mamarim always become clear and infused with Varemkeit.”

Our thousands of alumni, from years gone by up to the most recent graduates – describe their memories in the fondest of terms, crediting the Yeshiva with providing the strongest Ruchniyusdike foundation for life.
Gashmiyus That Supports Ruchniyus
Montreal Zal is also known for its strong and thoughtful gashmiyus. The Yeshiva offers affordable tuition, making serious Torah learning accessible to all. Our state-of-the-art Beis Medrash provides an atmosphere of dignity and focus, while comfortable accommodations allow bochurim to live and learn with peace of mind.
Every aspect of the physical environment is designed to support the spiritual mission—because when gashmiyus is settled, ruchniyus can flourish.
Community Support and Renewed Energy
The Zal is deeply grateful for the support of prominent community figures who have stepped forward to strengthen the kemach of the Yeshiva. Their involvement has reinvigorated the financial foundation of Montreal Zal, infusing it with fresh energy and stability. This renewed support allows the Torah of the Zal to continue growing with strength, dignity, and confidence—ensuring that the fire of learning and Chassidus burns even brighter for the future. The Rebbe’s Bracha to our Yeshiva (22 Iyar 5722) to return and thrive after setback is presently being realized.

It’s the real deal,
Reb Itche Meir’s tanya shiurim here are poshut gevaldik. They really brings tanya to life. Reb Itche Meir is migedolei hamashpiim. Looking at him bring yiras shomaim. He’s a dugma chaye and is molei kabolas oil. I tell you b’emes, that if you want your bochur to be an emes’n chosid fun reb’n you should send him to Montreal. I myself learned here many years ago, and it takke changed my life.
Who is the Mashipa there?
Rabbi Itche Meir Gurary
Rabbi Sholom Ber Cohen.
Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Gurary
My son has been to several Yeshivas, all of which were uncompromising with their crazy high tuition, the Hanhala of montreal is extremely accommodating for a change, a huge relief… plus my son is very happy. I’d recommend this place to everyone
Cares about each individual bochur, ready to meet him where he’s at and work with him to grow.
And my son says that the food is very good (unusual for yeshiva food!) plus has the very high kashrus standards of Montreal.
Excellent Zal.
