From one cold region to another – but with lots of warmth.
Jewish girls ages 17 to 21 from Ukraine and areas affected by the ongoing Russian war are being offered a safe haven to learn and grow in Canada.
In support of those suffering, the Canadian government created the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET) measures to help Ukrainians come to Canada as quickly as possible.
The CUAET measures also give those who are already in Canada the option to extend their visitor status and study permit so that they can continue to live, study or work in Canada temporarily.
The Chaya Mushka Seminary in Montreal, a leading academic institution for Chabad girls, is offering Jewish girls to benefit from this opportunity and enroll in the upcoming school year of 2022-2023.
With the generous help of philanthropic individuals and organizations, the seminary is able to provide partial and full scholarships for girls from the former Soviet Union, and provide them a wholesome learning experience in a Chassidish and warm atmosphere.
“We were in touch with Shluchim and Shluchos about this and they are excited about the opportunity being provided,” said the principal Mrs. Adina Ceitlin. “Students will be able to learn with fewer worries and advance together with bnos Chabad from Canada and the United States.”
The seminary was established by the Montreal Jewish community shortly after the passing of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, wife of the Rebbe, in 1988. It started in a home basement with a few students and grew into a beautiful seminary with a dorm hosting hundreds of girls who are now mothers and Shluchos.
This past year, the seminary revamped its faculty and expanded its slate of teachers to continue providing post-secondary education of the highest caliber for young women from around the world.
Teaching are Rabbi Dovid Banon (Hashkafa and Halacha), Rabbi Berel Bell (Kashrus/Yichud), Rabbi Avraham Benshimon (practical halacha) Mr. Gary Cymbalist (English), Rabbi Michoel Dahan (Ein Yaakov and Bekius), Rabbi Moshe Fischer (Gemara), Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Gurary (Maamarim), Rabbi Moshe Krasnanski (JLI), Rabbi Dr. Berel Kremer (Torah and Medicine), Rabbi Mendy Marlow (Halacha), Rabbi Getzy Markowitz (Parsha), Rabbi Moshe New (Chassidic Concepts), Rabbi Hirschel Raskin (Tanya), Rabbi Zushe Silberstein (Moshiach Concepts), Rabbi Mordechai Wenger (Emunah and Shaar Habitachon) and Rabbi Shmuel Zirkind (Practical Chassidus).
