In accordance with the Rebbe’s directive, the central Rambam Siyum in Montreal was held on Sunday night, the eve of Tu BiShvat, drawing a large and diverse crowd of residents, including chassidim and bochurim.
The event was chaired by Rabbi Shmuel Kramer, who guided the program and invited Rabbi Shmuel Zalmanov to recite the Rebbe’s and Rebbetzin’s chapters of Tehillim. Videos connected to previous Rambam Siyumim was then shown
The main Siyum was conducted by Rabbi Dovber Bell, Mara D’Asra of Beis Medrash Lubavitch in Montreal and a member of the city’s Beis Din. He was followed by the bochur hatamim Binyamin Chaim Wilansky, who made a Siyum on Sefer Hamitzvos for the merit and complete recovery of his grandfather, the esteemed Montreal educator Rabbi Tzemach Yosef Yitzchak ben Nechama.
The commencement of the new Rambam learning cycle was led by Rabbi Moshe Stern, rabbi of Tze’irei Das V’daas and one of Montreal’s roshei yeshiva.
Guest speaker Rabbi Zusha Winner, Rosh Yeshiva of Chovevei Torah and shliach in Brighton Beach, New York, addressed the gathering, followed by remarks from Montreal’s Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Yonatan Binyomin Weiss, and Skver dayan Rabbi Yochanan Vozner.
The evening concluded with an uplifting farbrengen with Rabbi Zusha Winner, which continued into the early hours of the night.
