A 71-year-old man critically injured in an anti-Semitic brutal stabbing attack during Chanukah in Monsey, NY, may never fully recover, his family said.
Josef Neumann was one of five people injured in the attack in which a man entered a home with a machete and began stabbing people gathered at a Chanukah party.
According to a statement from Neumann’s family, released by the Orthodox Jewish Public Affairs Council, “doctors are not optimistic about his chances to regain consciousness.”
According to the statement, the blade penetrated Neumann’s skull directly into his brain. He also suffered three cuts to the head, one cut to the neck, and his right arm has been shattered.
“Our father’s status is so dire that no surgery as yet been performed on his arm,” the family said.
Even if Neumann does recover partially, “doctors expect that he will have permanent damage to the brain; leaving him partially paralyzed and speech-impaired for the rest of his life,” according to the statement.
The family said that their father has seven children, many grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and brothers and sisters.
“We thank all of those who have contacted us for prayers and support,” the family said. “Please continue to pray for Yosef Ben Perel.”
The family also said they urge fellow Jews across the United States and around the globe to please share on social media their own experiences with anti-Semitism and add the hashtag #MeJew.
“We shall not let this terrible hate-driven attack be forgotten, and let us all work to eradicate all sorts of hate,” they said.
TRACHT GUT VET ZAIN GUT!!!
Refuah Shelaimah Yosef Ben Perel! We Want Moshiach Now
I imagine for prosecution purposes this is an important statement to quote from the Doctors.
But as the Rebbe told so many people, Doctors are not prophets. Their job is to treat, נתנה רשות לרופא לרפאות, not to give opinions who will or will not recover.
Let’s stay with positive energy rather than give substance to their dismal words.
I have sent his name to the Ohel
Who died and made these doctors god? They tried so hard to take my sil off of life support,, she woke up from a terrible coma after 7 months. The fact that these horrible words are being spoken is a terrible thing. WE collectively need to send positive thoughts to Mr. Neiman.
Let’s write in to the ohel for a brocha
tract gut v zein gut
In order to get the patient off life support. Change hospitals if you get the impression they won’t do their best. He can be airlifted.
May he have a speedy recovery
They should have their Mezouzot and tefilin checked by an expert sofer
Refoua shelema oukrova
May HaShem grant Yossef ben Perel a speedy and complete refua
May HaShem grant him a complete and speedy refua
Doctors are not Hashem! Be positive and pray
WE SHOULD INSTITUTE MINUTE OF SILENCE ALL OVER,SPECIALLY IN SCHOOLS
