A Rockland County judge has ruled that the man accused of stabbing five people at a Chanukah celebration in Monsey is not mentally fit to stand trial.
The judge ruled on Monday, that 37-year-old Grafton Thomas should be committed to a treatment facility for up to four months to see if his mental state improves enough to go on trial.
The ruling only applies to Thomas’ trial for federal hate crimes.
Thomas has also been indicted on state charges that include attempted murder.
R’ Yosef Neiman HYD, who was brutally stabbed in the attack, passed away 3 months later on March 30.
Imagine if a Jew was a suspect.!?!?
They would never say he was incompetent!!
This is outrageous!
It is actually surprising they gave that black man this diagnosis.
When a black or arab person commits a crime, they are reffered to as terrorists. When a white person commits a crime, they are called mentally incompetent.
I also believe NO ONE in their right mind would kill a person. Doesnt mean no one should get judged and severky punished. This guy will get what he deserves.

NOW The perp is alive in jail, and some of his young victims are dead.
Did it cross anybody’s mind that it’s possible for someone to actually be mentally incompetent? That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a horrible tragedy.
that anyone who would do something so horrific must be mentally incompetent! And should have been committed to a treatment facility way before such a tragedy took place.
Fix the system, don’t bring added tzaros to already grieving families.
