Monday Set as Day of Tefillah Against Coronavirus

With the number of people in critical condition rising, Rabbis from Crown Heights and Israel set Monday, 4:00 PM Eastern Time for communal recital of Tehillim and giving tzedaka.

The Crown Heights Beis Din called for residents of Crown Heights to join in prayer from their homes at 4 pm EST daily, and recite the Tehillim as divided by day and give Tzedakah.

The Rabbis specifically set this Monday as a day of prayer, when Chabad worldwide should unite at 4 pm EST to recite Tehillim – chapters 20, 22, 69, 118, and 150, and to give extra Tzedakah.

Free Translation:

To all the residents of Crown Heights, כאן צוה ה’ את הברכה, שיחיו,

Due to the current situation, we hereby propose the following:

Everyone should join together—each person in their own home, respectively— each day at 4:00 p.m., to say the daily portion of Tehillim as it is divided by day of the week, and to give money to Tzedaka, at least a few cents.

At the very least, to do so at any point throughout the day (including after Shkia—for those who did not have the opportunity earlier).

May Hashem accept our Tefilos and bring about the eradication of all illness from the world, with the ultimate Geulah through Moshiach Tzidkeinu.

In addition to the above, and in connection with the date of Chof-Zayin Adar, we are joining the proposal of the Chabad Beis Din of Eretz Yisroel to designate tomorrow, Monday 27th of Adar, as a day of Tefilah, for everyone to gather (at home) at 4:00 p.m. New York time, and say chapters 20, 22, 69, 118 and 150 of Tehillim, and to add in Tzedaka. (Ideally, to say the Tehillim for the day of the week as well, as mentioned above.)
