do not insult us bochurim by calling yourself a bochur. You’re a confused youth. I hope you find the help you need.

Sorry, but in the U.S. there is no “their” area and “our” area. No one owns the streets and sidewalks, except the government and all citizens have equal rights to access. I would not like getting woken up early on my day off either, but you need to recognize that when it comes to the public streets, there is no “theirs” and “ours.” If it makes you feel any better, some of us out of towners are being woken up by chain saws for a week as people try to deal with the wreckage from Irene. At least you were… Read more »

I just have to say these comments are hilarious. Like don’t you “holy yidden” have anything better to do? Instead your wasting all your “precious energy” talking down about people who have 24 hours of time to themselves, while we, no matter how holy and right and just it is, have simchas beis and lag b’omer and etc. etc.
It’s one day. get over it. worse things could happen.

Deal with it..as for “They don’t work, they just smoke and drink” in every crowd, in every group there are the plus ones and the minus ones..and we have no right to judge a people on the whole. Perhaps, this parade is important to the roots of the foundation , whereas others are just having fun..is that not what we do on Simchat Torah and the list goes on..Do people not think us crazy and judge us as a whole?? Who cares if they are having fun for a day..there are more important things in life than this to deal… Read more »

i called 71st precinct, the woman put me on hold, came back and said they had a permit and it was totally allowed. I said I lived on this corner for 30 years and never heard this, she tells me it’s a new route this year, instead of Utica.

you are so pathetic! you sound like the “geula yidden” right after ww2!

Were YOU woken up last night at 4 AM?
September 5, 2011 11:24 am

If you and your children were woken up by that blaring music and horns, not sure you’d be maintaining your “grin and bear it” stance at the moment. 7, 8, 10, 11 – I’m doubting you live along or close to Albany… Yes, Simchas Beis Hashoeva crossed my mind too as I dialed the precinct – but the fact is they were allowed to make that noise 2-7am on UTICA AVENUE until now and have casually shifted the route to ALBANY AVENUE this year which is way Jewish and unfair. I didn’t hear anyone complaining in past years when they… Read more »

I am, in fact, going to the parade. Why? Because I believe in multi-culturalism and celebrations of diversity. (And yes, I will of course divert my eyes.) Our neighbors have ONE big event a year. ONE. We have many. I personally would rather Eastern Parkway be blocked for a day so our neighbors can do their thing than walk through chicken feathers and blood on Kingston. (And yes, I use money for kapparos, which I then donate to PETA, and no, I’m not kidding.) Wake up. Come out of the shtetl mentality and interact with the rest of the world.… Read more »

You are 100% correct that both sides make their share of noise but there are several differences. first of all Lavayes! they block off the service lane for a short time and that is it. theres worse traffic going up kingston these days than the traffic from a lavayeh! next, our shobbes alarm lasts a few short seconds, yes it is loud, but it is also durring the day, not when people are sleeping. Both kaparos and simchas beis happen on mostly Jewish blocks and stay there rather than marching past my apartment at 4 in the morning with fog… Read more »

I agree! It seems like most of the animal-acting people come from elsewhere.

I live on Union St. There are times we make Kiddush to the accompianment of hip hop music in the background! And helicoptors looking for criminals! & plenty of noise & parties so I know what ur talking about!! But still most are peaceful homeowners & not vildig chayas!

What about our Shabbos alarms, Simchas Beis that goes on for several nights til almost daylight??? Kapporos? Levayas? Rallies? Our gentile neighbors put up with plenty of noise and street closures. Stop thinking only of yourself.

oy here we go again
September 5, 2011 4:57 am

soooooooooooooo not right!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am writing this as throngsof people and tons of noise goes past my window down Empire at 4 in the morning awakening myself and my whole household. How rude and inconsiderate. s Why oh why do we have to have this craziness year after year. This is my neighborhood too. I shouldn’t have to leave town and come back at night or hole up in my place until evening. I know we can venture out, but very few yidden do. If we wanted to block off all of crown heights, you think they would let the… Read more »
