Manhattan’s buzzing Fifth Avenue turned into a full-on display of support of Israel at a time when its enemies vie to annihilate it and its Jewish inhabitants from the face of the earth.
The theme of the annual Celebrate Israel parade was “Israel Branches Out” — celebrating growth and creativity — and marchers carried banners festooned with flowers and fruit, AP reported.
Elected officials including New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo waved to constituents. Senator Chuck Schumer used a bullhorn to shout “Let’s hear it for Israel! And America!”
On the sidelines and in the parade themselves, people and companies were promoting ideas and products. One sign called for “real peace,” while El Al pilots and flight crew encouraged to “fly Israeli.”
A group of Lubavitch bochurim pulled up with a Mitzvah Tank and spread around the parade’s route to offer men to put on Tefillin and women to light Shabbos candles.
“Come do a Mitzvah for Israel,” they called out and many responded positively.
its good that you are a shliach-pls dont be too pushy with the baal teshovot. I speak for us all. As much as we all dislike a pushy sales person we dislike pushy shluchim. Do it in a way that they will be inspired and continue to fufill the holy bible
