The Mitzvah Tank brigade, which operates under the auspices of the Lubavitch Youth Organization, will once again be driving around the streets of New York City.
Adorned with Chanukah themes, they will be bringing the joy and message of the Festival of Lights to residents of the Big Apple.
Some 30 “tanks” are scheduled to be driving around, equipped with holiday kits that include a tin menorah, colorful candles and a dreidel.
This year, they will also have another item on board: facemasks.
The Chabad chassidim and yeshiva bochurim on the vehicles will be required to be wearing a mask at all times to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
But they will also be handing out free masks to anyone who wishes, thanks to a donation of 10,000 masks made by Rabbi Lazer Avtzon of Crown Heights.
