The maamar “Hashamayim Kis’ei” was said by the Rebbe during a Farbrengen at Lubavitch Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights on Shabbos Parshas Re’eh, 2 Elul 5728.
It had been considered lost, and for years, publishers of the Rebbe’s teachings knew of it but did not have any documentation of its contents – until this week.
53 years after it was originally said, handwritten notes recapping the maamar were found in the home of Rabbi Sholom Jacobson OBM, the Mashpia, Choizer of the Rebbe and member of Vaad L’hafotzas Sichos.
Rabbi Jacobson, who passed away last week, dedicated his life to transcribing, editing and printing the Rebbe’s Sichos and Maamarim. He worked hand in hand with the Head Choizer Rabbi Yoel Kahn OBM who also recently passed.
While sitting Shiva, family members discovered the notes that Rabbi Jacobson wrote of that missing maamar and passed it along to Vaad Hanochos B’lahak for publishing in time for Shabbos when the exact same Parsha is read.
“May it be in merit of his neshama,” the publishers said.
