Due to the news of several new cases of COVID in the Crown Heights neighborhood on Friday, Agudas Chassidei Chabad has announced that the davening and selichos in the Rebbe’s room upstairs in 770 will be open to a very limited amount of people.
“Due to the unfortunate increase in the number of people who have recently been infected with coronavirus, all residents must raise their level of caution and act responsibly in order to prevent further spread,” the letter said.
“Following a serious warning about the state of 770 Eastern Parkway, we must limit the number of participants in Miyanim which take place in the Rebbe’s room,” they said.
Throughout this upcoming Shabbos, for all the davening, including Shabbos Mevorchim Tehillim in the morning and Selichos on Motzei Shabbos, there will only be a limited, small minyan allowed in the premises, they said.
“This was a very difficult decision to make,” they said, “but it was made for the welfare in the community and all the people in the vicinity of the Rebbe.”
They asked that everyone act in accordance with the regulations and not try to get around them.
On Friday, a note on the front door of the main Shul of 770 stated that no one will be allowed to enter the Shul without a mask.
