The first Chabad Mikvah to be built in the Ramot HaCarmel district overlooking the overlooking Haifa Bay and southwestern areas on the Hof Hacarmel plain in Haifa, Israel, will be completed this week.
Some 30,000 Jewish families live in the area and until now, there wasn’t a Chabad tevillah option within walking distance.
Rabbi Yehuda Dunin, Director of Chabad Achuza which serves the Carmel area, worked to have a mikvah built according to the upscale standards of the local residents.
Donating it was Rabbi Meyer and Shaindy Gutnick of Crown Heights in memory of his parents, Rabbi Sholom Dov Ber and Devorah Gutnick, of blessed memory.
Rabbi Sholom Dov Ber Gutnick, who served as Chief Rabbi of Caulfield Hebrew Congregation, a Rosh Yeshivah, Chabad Shliach and Av Beth Din of Melbourne Beth Din, passed away on 25 Iyar 5778. The Mikvah was completed in time to observe his yartzeit this Thursday.
