The Sefer Hashluchim, a set of 4 hardcover albums seen in many Lubavitch homes, will finally be updated almost 2 decades after they were first published.
In accordance with the times, the new edition will be published only online, said Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Chairman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, the organization which oversees the Shlichus network.
It was the Rebbe’s idea to create a family album of Shluchim as a memento of inspiration for Shluchim families and for anyone who takes pride in the ideals expressed by their living example.
The 4 volumes included 1,800 family photographs as well as thousands of photographs of the institutions and activities of Chabad-Lubavitch worldwide. They were left on the Rebbe’s desk in his room in 770 Eastern Parkway before 3 Tammuz 5754.
Rabbi Krinsky made the announcement at a general session of the Kinus Hashluchim convention that took place on Motzoei Shabbos in Campus Chomesh in Crown Heights.
He did not provide additional details on how it will be done and who will be coordinating it. There are over 4,000 families on Shlichus today, not including the many who are in the education system which the Rebbe instructed to include in the Shluchim book.
In 5766, a son of a Shliach in Holland tried to launch a similar project collecting updated photos of Shluchim families. It was not endorsed by Merkos and the website ShluchimAlbum.com is up for sale.
Other speakers at the general session included Rabbi Abraham Shemtov, Chairman of Agudas Chassidei Chabad International, Rabbi Yisroel Deren, Shliach in Stamford, CT, and others.

This will really help shidduchim, but only if it is printed as a book.

I enjoy looking at these books on Shabbos. I don’t have time during the week. why not print them?
