The Tishrei tent outside 770 Eastern Parkway, which serves as an extension of the Rebbe’s shul – Chabad Headquarters during the busy Tishrei season, has been expanded to include a tent for women for the first time.
Rabbi Mendel Mintz, organizer of the annual tent outside of the Shul which accommodates thousands of men during the month of Tishrei, shared that his late wife, Miriam Mintz OBM, was instrumental in pushing for the organizing of a second tent for women outside 770, which was in the works for this year. Tragically, Miriam passed away only a few weeks before this announcement.
This year, a second tent was built specifically for women on the plaza right outside the women’s shul, ensuring their inclusion in the vibrant Tishrei atmosphere.
The original tent, first introduced as a temporary solution to alleviate the overwhelming crowding in 770, has seen numerous expansions over the years. Originally, it was a simple 100-foot structure without air conditioning, erected for just ten days during Tishrei. In response to feedback and growing attendance, it was later upgraded with amenities like air-conditioning, larger space, and last year’s notable upgrade to a glass structure, making it more accommodating for the thousands of guests from around the world.
Each Tishrei, the tent hosts hundreds of minyanim, shiurim, and other activities, providing a vital overflow space for 770.
I had the privilege to daven in the tent both days of Rosh HaShana, it was an uplighting experience.

The space was extremely clean and ordered, the AC made davening very comfortable.
Hopefully 770 will very soon be expanded and renovated to mirror such a standard of accommodation.
