Despite the recent tension in Paris, the lighting of the Menorah near the Eiffel Tower took place as every year, with the participation of about five thousand people.
The annual lighting was established in Paris at the request and encouragement of the Rebbe and was broadcast via satellite around the world.
Today, Head Shliach of Paris Rabbi Mendy Azimov continues the tradition, and the crowd joined via live feed the Menorah in Jerusalem, the Rebbe’s room in New York, and the Israeli city of Netanya.
Many dignitaries were honored for the occasion, the mayor of Paris sent a very moving letter for the occasion, and the president of the Israel Consistory Joel Mergui spoke and strengthened the Jews of the city.
The chief rabbi of Paris lit the Menorah, together with the consul to Paris.
Moving Jewish music was performed by singer Nemouel.
