An emotional Menorah Lighting ceremony took place on Sunday night at Weston Town Center led by Rabbi Yisroel and Leah Spalter, Shluchim to Weston, Florida.
The festivities began with a 25-car Menorah parade, which headed out from the Chabad Center to the Town Center, where a large crowd awaited this special event of Jewish pride.
The City closes Main Street in Weston to allow for this large Chanukah Celebration now celebrating the twentieth anniversary of this special event.
This year, the event was focused on the events in Israel, and was attended by Mr. Avi Lulu, Father of Alon Lulu, currently held hostage by Hamas in Gaza, who addressed the crowd and told them about his son and how he was kidnapped on October 7th.
Mrs. Orit Sadikevitch, whose husband Leron was murdered by Hamas while defending and saving scores of lives in Kibbutz Kfar Aza on Simchas Torah, spoke as well.
The crowd of close to 1000 people were moved to tears as they told their stories. Prayers were sung and said for the IDF and the speedy rescue of Alon Lulu and all the remaining hostages.
Mr. Lulu and Mrs. Sadikevitch were honored to light the 20-foot menorah together with Rabbi Spalter to the applause of the crowd, who were moved and inspired by the great light of Jewish pride.
The crowd blessed the victims’ families to merit a miracle of Chanukah of their own.
The event was graced by United States Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, The Mayor, and many elected official and community leaders.
After the lighting everyone enjoyed food, music, dancing and a masterful performance by mind hacker and reader Alan Chamo who wowed the crowd with mind blowing trick after trick that boggled the mind of everyone.
