In a powerful and moving event at Camp Gan Israel Detroit, Mottel Slonim, the Learning Director of the Bar Mitzvah Division, completed a Siyum on the entire Sefer HaMaamorim Melukat, the collection of the Rebbe’s edited Maamorim. This momentous occasion, held in honor of thirty years since Gimmel Tammuz, was a day filled with inspiration, reflection, and celebration, leaving a lasting impact on the almost 400 campers and staff in attendance.
The day was officially declared “Melukat Day,” and the entire camp gathered together with the BMD division for an evening that would be remembered for years to come. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and reverence as everyone came together to honor Mottel’s incredible achievement.
The evening featured a festive dinner, live music, and a special video presentation produced by videographer Shmulie Grossbaum. The video, a highlight of the event, featured campers and staff explaining the history of Melukat and the vital importance of learning the Rebbe’s Torah. This presentation set the tone for the evening, emphasizing the significance of the moment and inspiring all present to deepen their connection to the Rebbe’s teachings.
Mottel’s family, though unable to attend in person, joined the celebration via Zoom, sharing in the joy and pride of the occasion. Friends of Mottel added to the emotional atmosphere of the evening by compiling a special Teshurah, which included some never-before-seen letters from the Rebbe, adding a deeply personal touch to the event.
One of the most touching moments of the evening came when Mottel’s friends surprised him with a stunning, custom-made leather-bound set of Sefer HaMaamorim Melukat. The beautiful gift left Mottel visibly moved and added to the sense of accomplishment and recognition of his dedication to learning the Rebbe’s Torah.
As Mottel completed the final lines of the Melukat, the room was filled with a sense of awe and celebration. Camp director Rabbi Levi Raichik then addressed the crowd, reinforcing the importance of making the Rebbe’s Torah a central part of daily life. His words resonated deeply, further inspiring the campers and staff to follow in Mottel’s footsteps.
The formalities gave way to spontaneous dancing as the entire camp joined in the joyous celebration. During this time, a deeply emotional song about the importance of learning the Rebbe’s Torah, written during this year’s color war, was sung by everyone present, creating a powerful and unifying moment.
The Siyum and the evening’s events were not just a celebration of Mottel Slonim’s personal milestone, but a call to action for all who were there. The hope is that the campers and staff will carry the lessons and inspiration from Melukat Day with them throughout their lives, constantly striving to make the Rebbe proud by learning and living his Torah.
The Siyum has not only left a deep impression on the camp itself but has also sparked a wave of renewed commitment to Torah study far beyond its borders. The inspirational event has become a catalyst for many to reexamine and deepen their own learning of the Rebbe’s teachings.
The ripple effects of the Siyum are already being felt in communities around the world. Rabbi Mendel Mishulovin, a Shliach deeply moved by the event, wrote about the profound impact it had on him:
“Slonim created a great awakening by publicizing the Siyum on Melukat. I remember hearing someone say that he studies a Maamar of the Rebbe every day. And for a while, I did so as well. To this day, whenever I don’t study a complete Maamar, I feel that the day hasn’t been fully fulfilled.
“Every time I share an audio clip from Ashreinu or from Igros Kodesh, my intention isn’t just to highlight the content but to publicize that I’m listening to a particular Farbrengen and reading the Igros, etc. I think that several times, I’ve suggested in public to study a particular Sicha, even though I’m not an official Mashpia. In my opinion, this is where the power struggle should be… Not in the seats at the picture of the Shluchim… In any case, any publicity in this area is very praiseworthy.”
Similarly, Rabbi Mendy Greenberg, a Shliach in Alaska, has taken to social media to post photos of his daily study of the Melukat. His consistent dedication has not gone unnoticed, and rumors are circulating that he may soon make his own Siyum.
Mottel Slonim’s Siyum has become more than just a personal milestone; it has ignited a global movement of increased devotion to the Rebbe’s Torah. The hope is that this awakening will continue to grow, encouraging more people to take their learning seriously and perhaps even inspire additional Siyumim in the near future.

Rabbi Wagner is gonna do ‘his thing’ up there, but WE must do our part ‘down here’! Project Melukat – we connect to Rabbi Wagner’s neshama as well as to the ‘ba’al Hama’amar’ – the rebbe! It’s an unbelievable energy! Try it for yourself!
I strongly believe that THIS project will tip the scale and end it all. As it literally bring ‘Emes Haveyeh’ – L’Olam IN to THIS lowly world.
Just do it – you’ll thank yourself later.
