On Sunday 3 Sivan, Mesivta Melbourne celebrated a Siyum Sefer Torah, marking 30 years since the Mesivta was founded in 5743.
The day started with the completion of the Torah in the Solowiejczyk Hall, following which, two bochurim of the Mesivta, whom had taken on hachlotos tovos for the Zechus, did Hagba and Gelilah on the new Torah.
The Torah was then paraded down the street, with Lebidige singing and dancing by the bochurim of Mesivta and Yeshivah Gedolah.
The parade came to a close at Yeshivah Shule, where the saying of Ato Horaisa by various balabatim and all the Mesivta Bochurim, followed by Hakafos and dancing, took place.
Amongst the crowd were notable figures such as Rabbi Zvi Telsner, Rabbi CT Groner, Dayan Katz of the Adass Israel community, as well as Politicians David Southwick MP, and Michael Danby MHR.
Everyone then escorted the Torah into the Mesivta Zal, where it was put into the Aron Kodesh, to be used every week by the Mesivta.
A seuda was then held in the Werdiger Family Hall, where two of the Mesivta Bochurim spoke, Menachem Wolf chazering a Sicha and Berel Groner saying a pilpul.
A Teshura was also given out in honor of the event, highlighting different aspects of Mesivta, as well as containing selected letters of the Rebbe to Melbourne and around the world regarding learning Limmudei Kodesh Kol Hayom.
A big thank you to Rabbi Morozow and Rabbi Lipskier for putting together this event.
