50 Luxury Cars got together Wednesday, the 4th night of Chanukah, to bring Light, Joy and the Chanukah message to residents in Beverly Hills.
Starting at the JEM Community Center in Beverly Hills, the parade of cars were seen passing through Rodeo Drive, Sunset Boulevard and other neighboring areas. Rabbi Hertzel Illulian was seen happily waving from a Rolls Royce with a menorah illuminated on top, just behind the Jem Community Center RV, or better known as the “Mitzvah Tank.”
Along with light and joy, donuts and traditional chanukah gelt were distributed from the parade of illuminated Rolls Royces, Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
“Chanukah is the Festival of Lights celebrating the Triumph of Good over Evil, Light over Darkness and the Few over the Many. Although it happened back in ancient times, it seems more relevant in our day and age. We have come out today to bring the light and warmth of the Hanukkah spirit into your homes and remind each person is a candle of light himself,” said Rabbi Illulian.
On the 8th night of Chanukah, the JEM annual Menorah Lighting took place outside the Maybourne Hotel, headed by Rabbi Illulian from the Jem Community Center along with Beverly Hills Mayor, Mr. Robert Wunderlich. One thousand two hundred people gathered at Beverly Canon Gardens to celebrate and were entertained by music, Chanukah treats, fresh donuts, latkes, and other various forms of entertainment.
In the midst of recent anti-sematic attacks within the Beverly Hills community, Mayor Wunderlich acknowledged the incidents while echoing the importance of Chanukah, saying: “Coming together as we did tonight to continue to celebrate Chanukah so each and every one of us can metaphorically be the Shamash that’s going to be adding light to the world as we light the Menorah tonight.”
The celebration ended with Rabbi Illulian traditionally showering the children with a Chanukah gelt of one dollar bills.
