In a poignant show of unity, Mayor Eric Adams was joined by prominent Jewish community leaders on Thursday at the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan to condemn the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy workers outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., the night before.
The solemn vigil brought together faith leaders, elected officials, and civil rights advocates to denounce antisemitic violence and call for solidarity in the face of rising hate crimes both domestically and abroad. The victims—reported to be a couple soon to be engaged—were gunned down outside a diplomatic reception, shocking the nation and prompting immediate outcry.
Standing at the podium alongside the Mayor were Jessica Tisch, NYPD Commissioner, Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Executive Vice President of The New York Board of Rabbis, and other leaders of the Jewish and Muslim communities.
“You’re either on the side of hate — or you’re going to stand up against it,” said Deputy Mayor Fabian Levy. “We’re sick and tired of the Jew hate and the anti-Semitic crimes we are seeing across our city, across our nation, and across the globe.”
Mayor Eric Adams denounced the brutal slaying of the young couple and slammed recent anti-Israel protests as antisemitic.
“We may not agree on politics,” Adams said, “but we must agree that we won’t let hate or violence take anyone,” he said.
“I’ve been speaking out against this hate from day one, but not only in the area of anti-Semitism but hatred altogether,” said Adams. “This city has no room for hate, and this country cannot have room for hate. Where do we draw the line, and when do we draw the line? So we’re not alright. I said that on October 8th, and I will say it again. As mayor of the largest Jewish community outside of Israel, this isn’t a philosophical discussion for me. It’s a level of clarity that we must all express.
“We will not be silent because we cannot be silent, and watch our brothers and sisters of any group in general — specifically our Jewish brothers and sisters — under attack in our country,” the Mayor said.

Al Sharpton in a gray 3 pieced suit prominently placed in the front in several of the photos. Ugh!
Is that Mr sharpton ?
Yemach Shemoi V’Zichroi!
Al sharpton?
So, in order to “prove” that:
Many years ago, Rabbi Shem Tov made newspaper headlines
when he took an African girl to the hospital in his car
after she got shot. One of the headlines was, “The day hate died.”
A while later, a Yid in Boro Park, Gidon Bush, was wrongfully gunned
down by police. A Boro Park resident called Sharpton’s office about the matter.
In less than an hour, Sharpton and his entourage were outside the 66th
precinct, protesting against police brutality
Al Sharpton is not a spokesperson against anti Semitic acts. He says this is about his community and all communities. NO, NO this was a heinous Anti Semetic crime.
Crown Hts Women for the Safety and Integrity of israel actually began 2 weeks before the 1991 Crown Hts Pogrom when on President Street between Schenectady and Utica there had been several frightening instances of Blacks engaging in driveby shootings not to mention Romaine LaFond stalking Jewish women around the area six months before murdering Pesha Leah LaPine, HY”D. There is no question that Sharpton, YM”SH, Mayor Adam’s mentor and close friend, bears 100% responsibility for turning a tragic car accident into a Pogrom that was, in essence, sanctioned by the Mayor, the Chief of Police Brown, Govenor Mario Coumo… Read more »
