actually, there is a upside in focusing on the chometz(and negating the matzah for that matter)chometz in its essence is a good thing(jewish pride etc.)and that’s really the ultimate purpose,to elevate/refine it,now in the beginning of the process of refining ourselves we cant have anything to do with it,but after we refine ourselves,not only is chometz not bad,on the contrary,we must use it to fulfill our mission of making this world a dwelling place for g-d.
