Mattil Fleishman, a woman who lived in Crown Heights and was active in organizing daily Torah classes at 770 Eastern Parkway for women, passed away on Sunday, 8 Elul, 5779.
She was 68.
Mattil lived in Crown Heights for the past decade, a resident at the home of Feigie Jacobson, and was a kind, humble, intelligent and refined woman, Mrs. Jacobson said.
“She had a lot of Hakaras Hatov, she was always thanking me for everything that was done for her, whether it was the meals I prepared or anything else,” Jacobson said.
Mattil worked for Ariela Benhiyoun, the organizer of the Beit Midrash L’Noshim program at 770 Eastern Parkway, coordinating daily classes, shiurim and farbrengens for women with known rabbis and lecturers from the neighborhood. She also organized the recording of the women’s shiurim for distribution.
She was a regular at Lefferts Shul in Crown Heights, and helped with the weekly Kiddush along with a group of women.
She was not feeling well for the past two weeks, and she suddenly passed away today.
Mattil has no family, and the funeral is being organized by Rabbi Avrohom Lider of Ahavas Chesed, who asks that anyone who can should please attend.
“It is a big zechus to give this Jewish woman her final Kovod,” Rabbi Lider said.
The levaya will take place today, Monday, passing by 770 at 3 pm and burial in Montefiore Cemetery.

Mattil was the sweetest, most humble, intelligent person. Such a loss.
Always used to see her walking down my block with her shopping bags. Such a refined woman. BDE
Seeing such a familiar face in this way is so painful. Baruch dayan haemes.
She was & still remains a big part of the holy learning that goes in in the women’s shul.
May she bang down the gates of golus.

A true tzadekes.
A true tzadekes. I am thankful for the recordings that she made on Mixcloud.
Mattil once shared that her father was a WWII hero. The sacrifices that Mattil’s family made so we can live in security and peace and Mattil’s contributions to the community are remembered and respected.
Very very sorry to hear.
Mattil is dear to my heart. I cant believe this. She has done so much for the Rebbe and the ongoing shiurim in crown heights for years. We have so much to learn from her….

What a special person! Whenever I saw her in 770 she was busy arranging and putting classes together! She was respectful and always dressed put together! What a special person!
So sad, she was so dedicated and selfless for the 770 shiurim etc and would work so hard carrying things, setting up, putting away etc. May her neshama have an aliya. Moshiach now!
SHE WAS A TRUE EXAMPLE WHAT MEANS TO BE A ” MENTCH “- REAL HUMBLE AND PLEASANT TO EVERYONE. WE’LL MISS HER.

I am very saddened by our loss of Mattil. I was always greeted by her warm smile and gentle energy whenever I attended classes at 770 or met her on the street. She was completely devoted to Ariella, making sure everything was set up and in order for each speaker who came to teach us. Baruch Daayan Haemes.
She conducted herself like a true bas melech. We can learn from her. I hope she will forgive us for any neglecting anything due to her or for failing to greet her or brighten her day.
Ive been walking into 770 and it feels so empty without Mattel. Amazing how such a quiet person could have affected the atmosphere so strongly. I really miss her.
