Every year, Colel Chabad sponsors a mass Bar/Bat Mitzvah at the Western Wall for 1,000 Russian immigrant boys and girls.
These spectacular celebrations are attended by Government ministers, Chief Rabbis, dignitaries and throngs of family members and guests.
The children all spend several months being tutored and prepared by Colel Chabad volunteers in their respective communities. Each boy receives a pair of new Teffilin, and each girl is presented with a sterling silver candlestick.
Following the official ceremony the children are treated to an all-day outing at a major amusement park. Most of these children are the first in their families to celebrate their Bar/Bat mitzvah in over 70 years.
Attending the event are Israel’s Chief Rabbi David Lau, Holocaust survivor and Tel Aviv Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, Kotel Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz and other dignitaries.
