For the 38th time, the massive Kidushim and distributions organized by Nachum Markowitz nourished thousands over Rosh Hashana, Motzei Yom Kippur, Sukkos, Shmini Atzeres and Simchas Torah and Shabbos Bereishis.
Keeping with the Rebbe’s blessing and directive that the project be “a continuous enterprise ever increasing,” this year was the largest yet.
Residents and guests enjoyed overflowing pallets of food and beverage which filled a fleet of trucks and lined Eastern Parkway. Women enjoyed long tables set with meat, soup, sandwiches and refreshments that lined Kingston Avenue between Union and Eastern Parkway.
Individuals returning from Tahalucha at 4:30AM were treated to the Kidushim that were still ongoing from the previous evening. Local children were treated to treats and chocolate milk on the mornings of the holiday.
Reb Nachum humbly thanked the donors who make this project possible. Those donors were recognized on large signage and thousands made Lchaims to the success and health of these generous individuals.
The principal sponsors were Rabbi Yitzchak and Rebbetzin Shaindel Raitport, Reb Sholom Ber and Shoshana Drizin, Yerachmiel and Rivkah Jacobson, and Rabbi Don Yoel and Rebbetzin Shaindel Levy of OK Kashrus, along with other supporters.
This year, after years of wishing L’chaims in the merit of the redemption of Shalom Mordechai Rubashkin, the signage included a moving dedication in his honor and L’chaims were said thanking G-d for his miraculous release on Chanukah.
A beautiful dedication to Rabbi Binyomin Klein, secretary of the Rebbe, also adorned the trucks.
