A full day of spiritual preparation for the 20th Gimmel Tammuz was held at the Marina Roscha Community Center and Synagogue in Moscow, Russia.
The day began with a simposium with Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar, Rabbi Yizchak Kogan of the Balshoi Bronya Synagogue, Rabbi David Karpov of Darkei Shalom Synagogue and Rabbi Moshe Rochlin.
For over 2 hours, participants were able to ask questions, express their thoughts, hear stories and shares experiences with the speakers.
A special display titled “60 Years of Leadership” walked people through the life, work and philosophy of the Rebbe through documents, photos, videos and stories.
Special forms were given out for those wanting to write a personal ‘pan’ letter to the Rebbe, reporting about an additional mitzvah they will take upon themselves to honor the day. The notes were brought to the Rebbe’s Ohel in New York by Shliach Rabbi Mordechai Weisberg.
As evening arrived, the crowd was invited to a large festive meal and Farbrengen that also doubled as a Sheva Brachos meal for a newlywed couple. Addressing the crowd were Rabbi Lazar, Rabbi Michael Swetpolsky, Mr. David Aminov and Mr. Alexander Buchman.
