Children in Markham, Canada may live far away from the victims of the recent Hurricane Sandy, but they are close at heart.
26 youngsters, part of Chabad of Markham’s Kids 4 Kindness club, gathered at the shul Sunday to make hot cocoa, package cookies and prepare beautiful signs, announcing their fundraising efforts to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The precious children then stood outside for two hours, selling their hot cocoa and cookies to passersby.
This was part of the ongoing program “Kids 4 Kindness” which gives the opportunity to young children to give back to their community. Some of the activities that our K4K have been involved with in the past: wrapping Chanukah gifts for children with special needs, sorting out clothing for the Toronto homeless, and baking cookies and presenting them to firemen to teach the children about “hakaras hatov” (showing gratitude).
Thanks to Matti and Kiki, our two K4K directors who instill great Jewish values in our children.
