12 years have past since Yaakov Krugliak, a Lubavitch Chassid from Jerusalem, posted with his black hat and jacket for the all white product.
Rivyion, a dairy product of the Israel’s major Tnuva company, was promoted as a healthy drink that combines milk and yogurt but is now well forgotten.
But not for Krugliak.
“When I saw myself for the first time plastered on bulletin boards, I wanted to bury myself in the ground,” he the Mishpacha magazine this past week.
“I don’t have words to describe the embarrassment,” he said. “They deceived me – they’ve to me in the beginning that the ad will appear in a Yiddish newspaper that’s published abroad. And them a on one not bright day friends from all over the country were telling me ‘we saw you’.
“I told them they must be mistaken, but they insisted. ‘We drive to work every day and see you an the way’. When the ads came to Jerusalem, I stopped walking out of my home.”
He is also frustrated with the petty payment he received. “One of my consideration for the whole thing was the promise they would be me well. I was gullible and didn’t even ask who much. In the end they gave me $300, 40% of which went to income tax.”
But he remains optimistic and doesn’t want to cry over spilled milk (or, in this case, yogurt). “Instead od choking form anger, I decided to keep smiling until it came from within and not for an ad.”
