The following was received from the NYPD 71st Precinct:
Today, April 19, 2012 at approximately 6:30 PM a thirty-six year old Hasidic male was beaten and robbed near the corner of Sterling Street and New York Avenue.
The victim sustained bruises and swelling to the face during the incident.
Statements made by the unidentified perpetrator have caused the police department to treat this incident as a possible Bias Incident.
Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Hate Crimes Task Force at 646-610-5267.
There will be increased patrols and presence in the area in an attempt to apprehend the perpetrator and prevent further incidents.
What are you talking about? Regular muggings do not elicit calling specific names or slurs out over and over, nor do they tale the least valuable item from the victim. It was probably a mugging AND a hate crime .

He was kicked in the face for a few minutes ..once he pretended to be knocked out the perp took his iPod music device – not his wallet , not his watch not his phone .. While kicking him over and over he called him f***ing Jew .. f***ing Jew …f***ing Jew ….f***ing Jew

This is a horrible story, now everyone can continue to write articles, and demand that the police and local politicians do something. This location is one short block from the 71 st precinct. It does not bide well that these human bodies with inherent animalistic traits have no fear of perpetrating these acts within such close proximity to the precinct. Perhaps if the police officers would focus on crime instead of being occupied with seat belts, cellular phones, and other minor infractions, we would get the protection that is due us, and for which our taxes pay so dearly for.
