The 7th Heaven Chocolate Company has won Best In Show at both the KosherFest and VeganFest trade shows in the past few weeks, having only recently launched in the US.
The brand, which is based in Israel, is backed by a group of mostly Lubavitcher and entrepreneurs and investors, led by entrepreneur and philanthropist David Schottenstein.
The brand makes a non-dairy, plant-based chocolate that tastes like high-quality milk chocolate and tastes completely dairy.
The awards come on the heels of 7th Heaven’s presence at the Artscroll Siyum Talmud Yerushalmi at the Trump Doral in Miami. Dinner attendees were served 7th Heaven Chocolates during the ceremony and then desserts made using 7th Heaven’s vegan milk chocolate including a chocolate fountain and “milk” chocolate caramel and sea-salt soufflés. A number of the dinner attendees were visibly confused, asking how they could be served milchig chocolate after a fleishig dinner and were stunned to learn that the chocolate was indeed parve.
The reactions at KosherFest and VeganFest were the same. Retailers and consumers at both conventions were simply baffled upon learning that the chocolate contains no dairy.
In Israel, the company goes under the name “Panda Chocolates” and is now the largest and fastest growing vegan chocolate company in Israel.
The US brand 7th Heaven, led by CEO Daniel Bareket, is now expanding to major grocery chains including Kroger, Whole Foods, Wegman’s, Winn-Dixie and many others including kosher grocery stores nationwide and can also be purchased online at 7thHeavenChocolate.com.
Most of the kosher grocery stores in Crown Heights will be carrying the brand including BenZ’s Gourmet which just received their initial shipment and now has the product for sale.
