The Kol Menachem Shlager Haggadah has been named one of the finalists in the 2009 Benjamin Franklin Awards competition.
The book is adorned with commentary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, and edited by Rabbi Chaim Miller of Crown Heights.
But it is the design that struck the eye of the judges of the Independent Book Publishers Association (formerly PMA).
Executive Director Terry Nathan has notified the Lubavitch publisher Rabbi Mayer Gutnick that the book was nominated in the category “Interior Design, 1-2 Color.”
Its competition for excellence in design is “Blood Specimen Collection FAQs” and “Living Beyond Organic.”
This is not the the first Lubavitch publication competing for the award.
“Going Kosher Within 30 Days” by Florida Rabbi Zalman Goldstien won in 2008 and Brooklyn Heights Shliach Rabbi Simcha Weinstien‘s “Up Up and Oy Vey!” won in 2007, each in different catagories.
The winner will be chosen from one of the three finalists and will receive the 2009 Benjamin Franklin Award during a ceremony on Thursday evening, May 28, 2009 at the Roosevelt Hotel, New York.
It is not surprising that the sefer has achieved some acclaim. It is amazing.
