New York State Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul joined Crown Heights Jewish leaders Thursday to meet with small business owners and listen to the priorities and concerns of the community.
Hochul first met with Chanina Sperlin and Eli Cohen of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, where they discussed issues and concerns of the community.
Hochul then toured Kingston Avenue, the neighborhood’s main shopping hub, stopping in some of the shops and speaking to business owners and residents.
“Lieutenant Governor Hochul was warmly welcomed by the people we met today, especially the students of Bais Rivkah, who remembered her from her last visit to Crown Heights, when she addressed their school,” Chanina Sperlin told COLlive.
“She was very interested to hear about all the issues here, and is a true friend to our community,” Sperlin said.
Following the tour, Lieutenant Governor Hochul told COLlive, “As I heard on my tour today, and fully agree with: Crown Heights is the center of the universe.”
Hochul said that during her frequent visits to Crown Heights, she’s had the opportunity to meet with both leaders and residents of the Jewish community, to “discuss priorities and concerns to ensure that Governor Cuomo and I are doing everything we can to provide all New Yorkers and their families the opportunity to live safe and healthy lives.
“I will continue to stand alongside my running mate Governor Andrew Cuomo, because as a partnership, we get things done for the people of New York,” Hochul said.
