Longtime NYPD community affairs officer Ira Jablonsky was promoted to “Special Assignment Lieutenant” by NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill on Tuesday.
“Ira is a tremendous asset to the community, always there to help in any way that he can,” said David Heskiel, NYPD clergy liaison, at the ceremony at 1 Police Plaza.
In attendance at the ceremony were Jewish community leaders including Councilman Chaim Deutsch, Brooklyn South Chief Charles Scholl, NYPD Liaison Devorah Halberstam, Chanina Sperlin of the CHJCC, and Douglas Jablonsky.
