With one voice, government, business and community leaders gathered to honor 23 Long Island Teenagers for their acts of goodness and kindness.
These Good Deed Awards for Long Island Teenagers were established by Rabbi Anchelle Perl, Director of Chabad of Mineola. This program, now in its 29th year, sets out to identify the vast good inherent in our youth and help the wider community appreciate it.
The VIP Award Presenters included Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, County Comptroller Elaine Philips, Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip, North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena and Council Members Dennis Walsh and Veronica Lurvey, Mineola Village Mayor Paul Pereira, IDA Chairman Richard Kessel and Chairman of the Physical Medicine & Rehab Nassau University Medical Center Dr Paul Pipia.
The Good Deed Awards, recognize teenagers for their significant achievements, excellence, effectiveness, and creativity as positive role models in their community.
Sophie Clancy of Bellmore, New York was honored for her service in helping holocaust survivors. She organized a Mishloach Manot drive in her Synagogue and raised over $1000 to purchase essentials and self-care products for the survivors. She donated over 90 bags with so many items for the Holocaust survivors.
“You can’t imagine,” noted Rabbi Perl, “the faces of these people, when they see young people caring for them with dignity and kindness.”













Yes, we need to do this more often Reinforcing and highlighting in our youth the value of good deeds should be top priority.
