The London Jewish Family Centre is founded on the most basic of Chabad principles – Ahavas Yisroel. It is an organisation that, since its inception, has sought to make life easier for Jewish families regardless of background and affiliation.
After Covid, when many organisations saw this as a reason to cut back their services, Bunim and Sandy Weinbaum have seen the depth of the need. They immediately took on the services of a highly qualified Consultant Social Worker, Miriam Coleman. It was not long before the Centre became the ‘last resort’ for families in crisis – Family breakdown, Mental Health issues, Liaison with Government Agencies on behalf of struggling families – and at the same time the growth of their dynamic pre-school developmental programmes.
During Covid, many new Mums struggled with isolation, and many babies did not thrive just because the Mum was not meeting up socially with other Mums and seeing whether her baby had reached its goals at the right time.
At a time when the Government has cut back on its postnatal services, the Family Centre is providing well-baby clinics, OT sessions and help for new Mums that are not available anywhere else.
Their Campaign now is to expand their Family Support Services – taking on additional Social Workers, Family Support Workers and therapists to meet the need. And to further develop their Early Years programmes.
No family is turned away because of an inability to pay, but top class services are not cheap – and it is for that reason that LJFC is reaching out and asking for YOUR help.
The Centre personifies the Weinbaums. Just as their house has always been open to all, so the Centre is open to every Jew -and every Jew will feel welcome and loved.
£200,000 – 65% of their Budget in the next 24 hours to ensure a brighter future for every Jewish family.
