Mother to Mother, a friendship support group for mothers in Crown Heights, held a Challah baking event before Rosh Hashana.
Mothers and volunteers gathered at the Lerman residence for a Challah braiding demonstration with Mrs. Ahuva Fogelman and some pre-Rosh Hashana inspiration from noted speaker Mrs. Rivka Kotlarsky.
Mother to Mother, a unique organization for women in Crown Heights under the directorship of Fradie Laufer and Ella Lerman, provides a peer-mentoring program for local moms, offering them a special relationship with a fellow volunteer mother who is an experienced parent.
The volunteers offers guidance, support and friendship through confidential meetings once a week, either face to face or on the phone.
Mothers also meet in groups twice a month to speak openly about the joys and challenges of parenting, providing an opportunity for members to help each other through the sharing of knowledge and experience.
“Our philosophy is simple: when mothers are supported they are more successful in all areas of their lives,” says Ella Lerman. “This benefits children, families and their neighborhood. The objective is to inform, support, connect and share.”
Mother to Mother is under the auspices of Yeled v’Yalda.
