A Wild Western Purim it was indeed, at Chabad of Markham’s grand Purim party and masquerade for over 350 parents and children.
The children were treated to an afternoon full of wild Western treats: a llama and all his friends were transported to Chabad to join in for the Purim fun; including Mick the Cowboy with line-dances accompanied by the best of Jewish Western music and a visiting unicyclist juggler who juggled knives and bowling pins while blind-folded on his unicycle.
Guests enjoyed a grand Western buffet complete with hot chili, tortilla and salsa dips, hot dogs and buns with all the toppings… and then for the real treat, the dancing Rabbis – the bachurim from Yeshivas Toronto arrived, to do Mivtzoyim, read the Megillah, put on Tefillin and get the crowd into a lively Purim mood.
“This was the best Purim ever!” said Elyse, age 7.
Said her mom: “Only Chabad can put on such a party!”
The Rabbis and Rebbetzins would like to thank the many volunteers who packed the Mishloach Manos, decorated the shul and cooked the dinner.
