John Quincy Adams was John Adams’s son, not grandson. He was a genius, was fluent in 6 languages by the time he was 15: English, Latin, Greek, biblical Hebrew, French, and Dutch. At age 10, he accompanied his father on a diplomatic mission as commissioner to France from the nascent USA. Conversely, Andrew Jackson wasn’t even literate. Thus, the campaigns were so contentious: JQA felt that not only was Jackson illiterate, he had committed war crimes.
