The Crown Heights Lag BaOmer bonfire, which has become a beloved yearly tradition, will be taking it up a notch this year.
Coordinated yearly by R’ Zalman Liberow and a group of community askonim, the annual event unites young and old in Crown Heights around the bonfire along with beautiful singing and dancing.
This year, the program will be enhanced and enlarged, with a grand lighting presentation and LED video walls by Mendy Boaron of MLP Lighting.
The program will also be shortened so that the festivities can begin earlier, organizers said. A large screen will show the joyous dancing and will be streaming live as well.
The program is being enhanced through the sponsorship of donors from the community.
A large catered buffet of delicious hot food will also be served.
Young and old are invited to join the celebration in the merit of the Yartzeit of Rabi Shimon Bar Yochai.
The bonfire is held in memory of Saadia Shmuel a”h Liberow. It is coordinated by Rabbi Moishy Sufrin and Rabbi Shimon Liberow among others, with the approval of the NYPD and NYC Parks Department.
The bonfire is scheduled for Thursday night at 600 Kingston Ave. (between Rutland and Winthrop) in front of the George Wingate High School. Seating is provided for both men and women in designated areas. All members of the community are invited to participate in the celebration.
