On Monday evening, the Jewish community of Brazil paid tribute to 15 years since the founding of Yeshivas Ohel Menachem Mendel in Sao Paulo.
Approximately 1,500 people crowded the aristocratic theatre “Teatro Abril” in Sao Paulo for an unforgettable evening of music and entertainment from renowned singers Lipa Shmeltzer and Yosef Chaim Shwekey.
Accompanying them was the ‘Freilach Orchestra’ from New York.
The Master of ceremonies and news anchor for the Jewish TV “Shalom Brazil” in Brazil, Jairo Rosen, opened the evening with an introductory message.
Rosen stated that through the founding of the Chabad Yeshiva in Brazil and its array of activities and programs it has to offer, the institution has had a great impact on Brazilian Jewry.
Following the conclusion of Rosen’s introductory words, Yosef Chaim Shwekey amazed the crowd with an unbelievable performance, including some of his hits from his latest album, ‘Lo Lefached.’
Shortly thereafter, Shmeltzer captivated and entertained the crowd with his phenomenal songs and dances.
The Rosh Yeshiva and Rabbi of the local Chabad community, Rabbi Shamai Ende, delivered a short speech, emphasizing the importance of the Yeshiva in Brazil and its significant effect on the Jewish community.
Rabbi Ende concluded his speech by acknowledging and thanking all the Yeshiva’s supporters.
A video presentation, portraying all that the Yeshiva has to offer, went through the various activities, programs, alumni and friendly staff, depicting its success and achievements ever since it’s founding.
However, the most emotional part of the evening was when Lipa sang the famous song composed by him “Moishale” that speaks about the tragic incident that occurred in Mumbai, His heartfelt words touched the hearts, inspiring every individual to emulate the goodness of the Holtzbergs.
The Director of the Yeshiva, Rabbi Mendel Koncepolski was quoted saying “not every day does such an event take place in Brazil, within two days we have already received dozens of emails and phone calls from emotional people, proving to us what a great Kidush Hashem was caused.
The evening, produced and directed by Yaron Levy from Pearl productions of NY, proved to be a great success, where the crowd enjoyed an unforgettable and remarkable musical experience.
