DD 770.
That is the number on a New York State license plate that was pictured on the Cadillac town car with which the Rebbe would ride in to the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens, NY.
Now, an auction website BidSpirit claims that it has that plate and is offering it for sale. The bidding price begins at $18,000 ($22,000 after processing fees).
The website said the 30.5 x 15 cm plate has the Statue of Liberty on its left and that it has been mounted on a luxury wooden stand.
They wrote that many precious Chassidic moments are connected to the vehicle, such as when the Rebbe would travel to daven at the Ohel of the Frierdiker Rebbe, the niggunim that were sung when he left, and the coins given to children to give to tzedakah.
The auction will take place in 15 days.

who owned this to sell. interesting to find out the owner.
These plates are registered to Rabbi Klien. It was his personal car.
???
Town car was Lincoln, not Cadillac. The Rebbe’s car was either a Sedan de Ville or a Fleetwood, as those were the Cadillac 4-door cars in the late 70s.
Please Don’t
This plate belongs to Rabbi Klien. The Rebbe went to the mikvah with this car. To & from home as well. NOT to the Ohel.
He did go to the Ohel in this car when Rabbi Klien drove
Yes true,
But this wasn’t the “official” Ohel car.
The article makes it sound like these plates (car) was the ones usually used.
1) The Cadillac isn’t a TownCar. A TownCar is from the Lincoln Brand.
I believe the Rebbe had a
Cadillac Brougham (or Fleetwood)
2) the many times the article mentions the Rebbe went to the ohel. Seems as if these DD 770 License Plate will bring you an additional אזכיר על הציון ברכה !!!!
Usually traveled to the ohel in the other car. (plate #358)
Anyone can order one online for under 50 dollar
The license place was replaced many times. As NY sate changes the color every few years
They are worthless. Not worth anything
I’m skeptical for other reasons as well the holes shape some one should be able to verify
not 358
not 358
These plates are not in the possession of the family and not being sold by Rabbi Kleins family or any relatives.!!!!
The auction apparently has been removed, it isn’t to be found on the portal
You cannot transfer your plates to another person
As of now (11:55pm on Monday) the listing is still up.

Once a license plate is revealed to the public even if that person turns in the plates, one cannot duplicate the plate again. So how can someone get hold of the plate and can auction It Off???
I think someone despate for money……..
Very disgusting.
Oh & drive with that plate too????????
Very wrong.
Now if you’ll pay that money for the plates just as a collector…….ok……but????????????
THE CADILLACS WERE GIVEN AS A GIFT TO THE REBBE. WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO SELL IT AND WHY IS IT NOT KEPT IN 770 MUSEUM?
WHO IS PLUNDERING THE REBBES CAR FOR PERSONAL FINANCIAL GAIN?
EVERYTHING BELONGS TO THE CHASSIDIM,
HELLO? HEI TEVES?
Who has the audacity give away something like that ?
As mentioned above. These plates were from Rabbi Klien’s car. NOT the Rebbe’s official car.
Maybe the person that buys it will give it to the 770 museum
Though I am unsure about this plate, many other things, including “recently discovered” letters come as a result of geneiva from private homes. Please be careful when playing with fire.
Who would spend on this? Better donate to the poor.
some have mentioned how the rebbes car was the Cadillac, and this license plate was on rabbi Kleins car which was the lincoln, but in the picture, we see that this license plate is on a Cadillac . .
It’s been taken down and removed from the auction.
