The Levi Yitzchok Library will be hosting several exciting programs celebrating motherhood to embrace women’s identities as mothers through inspirational learning and support.
In addition to its regular programming for mothers and toddlers held every week at the library, two internationally renowned women who bring tips of beauty and organization to people around the world will present a unique opportunity to women of Crown Heights at two separate events.
Tonight’s event in honor of Tu B’shvat will feature Rivka Caroline, a Chabad shlucha, lecturer, author and mother of seven kids, who has become an expert in everyday organization for the last 20 years. She will be talking about “Top Ten Ways to get your life in Order.”
Originally from London, England, Rivka now lives in Miami, Florida and has helped thousands of mothers with their organizational skills and to improve their happiness and efficiency. Rivka wrote her first book ‘From Frazzled to Focused’ and created a time management agenda drawn from hours of sorting and processing both physical and psychological clutter (http://www.sobeorganized.com/about/). Using her masters degree in Psychology to help get to the root of time management issues, she is a frequent public speaker on the subject of living a better, more organized life, and simple yet effective tools on how to get there while addressing the real, underlying issues that block personal change and growth.
The evening will also include healthy food demonstrations and tasting by health enthusiast Tani Minkowitz, who will bring Tu B’shvat alive with treats such as pumpkin bars and nut filled hamentachen that will be included as refreshments.
Next week on Tuesday morning at the library, Yael Trusch, the creator and author of the popular, bilingual Jewish lifestyle blog, “Jewish Latin Princess,” (http://jewishlatinprincess.com/) will talk about “Kabbalah of the Home” for women. She will explore where the worlds of interior design and Judaism intersect in a fun and spiritual uplifting talk.
Inspiring Jewish women with her warm and refreshing approach to Jewish life, Yael creatively weaves spiritual insights into her posts on fashion, interiors, food and art, presenting these as vehicles for Jewish femininity. Yael grew up in Puerto Rico and now lives in Houston, TX with her husband and four children. She travels the world speaking to groups of women in Spanish or English and teaches Jewish brides and Bat Mitzvah girls. Recently, Yael launched her events’ styling firm, and creates beautiful Jewish celebrations that reflect the soul of the events. She has a monthly column on the Jewish Herald Voice, called “Defining Jewish Women” and has been published on JewishWoman.org.
“It’s so important for mothers to gain confidence, however they’re managing,” explained Rivky Katz, who organizes events for the library. “They have to feel content from a deep place. These events focus on giving deeper perspectives into motherhood, to enjoy your children and enjoy being a wife and not to be judgmental of ones self.”
The library recently concluded an eight week parenting course with Rabbi Manis Friedman and is now in the midst of a new 10 week series on Wednesday mornings called “Mother the Mother,” a “lunch and learn” for new mothers with different presenters. Lactation Consultant and Herbalist, Sara Chana Silverstein, will be talking about moody women and home remedies for winter health in upcoming classes.
Monday mornings welcome mothers and children for a “mommy and me” followed by a discussion group with experienced mothers, such as Mrs. Chanie Friedman. Tuesday mornings “coffee and conversation” for women offer parshah insights with various presenters and topics, including an expert on bullying.
