He was also the Baal Tokeah, and many years back the Makreah was R’ Chezkel Deren (YZ”B).

When me and my brother went into the Rebbie for Yechedus, on seperate ocassions, the Rebbie saw Pfeffer/Pittsburgh. The Rebbie asked each of us if we were a Kohen, refering to Reb. Hershel. We are not Kohanim.

And of course we all have very fond memories of Morah Pfeffer O”H, beloved partner to R’Hershel, and Kindergarten Morah for many decades.
