This week there was an exciting culmination of the Lemaan Yilmedu Mikvah program. Lemaan Yilmedu’s Mikvah course teaches to become proficient in one of the most crucial, yet complex areas of Halacha – Mikvaos. This course is open to anyone, whether a community member involved in the building of a Mikvah, a Rav or Shliach. Students of the course learn about the design, kashrus, supervision and maintenance of a mikvah from the field’s leading experts.
This week, at the end of the course, like every year before, students went on a practical tour with the Maggid Shiurim, to see first hand. This year was especially exciting because they were honored to be joined by the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Dovid Lau, while he was visiting Crown Heights.
The Chief Rabbi, together with the Hanhala and students, visited the Mikvah Mei Chaya Mushka of Crown Heights. They were greeted at the Mikvah by the founder of the Mikvah, Rabbi Moshe Pinson as well as Mrs. Maggie Rogatsky of Haute Couture Design, who was the interior designer of the Mikvah.
Rabbi Shraga Crombi, who is the Administrator of Lemaan Yilmedu, tells COLive, “The Chief Rabbi was very, very impressed. He said that this is the most beautiful Mikvah he has ever seen, anywhere in the world.”
The Chief Rabbi noted that anyone who is building a Mikvah should come and see this one first, to see how beautifully it was built.
The Chief Rabbi went on to give Chizuk to all of the students, telling them the great reward for learning about and helping safeguard this very important Mitzvah. The continued to tour the entire Mikvah and the Rabbi along with the Menal of Lemaan Yilmedu and its students, identifying all the intricate parts of the Halachic designs.
After a full year of learning from books and classes, it was invaluable to finish off seeing the Mikvah in a practical hands-on way.
The halachos were learned all year from the source, straight from the pages of the Shluchan Aruch, with a special emphasis on Chabad Minhagim and the horaos of our Rebbeim. You can sign up for next year if you’d like or to learn more about this program by going to their website. https://www.lemaanyilmedu.com/product/mikvaos
