The Catskills region is today a vibrant hub for the frum Jewish community, hosting an array of summer camps, shuls and restaurants. Once renowned as a popular resort area, the Catskills now resonate with the sounds of Torah learning and davening.
And a new center will be only adding to that.
The Zichron Moshe Chassidus Center in Monticello, New York, has a spacious ‘zal’ room and fully stocked bookcases for people to come in and learn Torah and Chassidus.
It is centrally located in the former Hong’s Karate School at 159 E Broadway, down the road from the famous Fialkoff’s Kosher Pizza shop and bakery.
“It is an exciting development for the community and will surely be well-received by those attending,” says Rabbi Avraham Mann, Director of the Or Hachasidut organization, which opened the center.
“This new center provides a place for those interested in studying Chasidus to come together and learn in a supportive environment,” he said.
The center was inaugurated on Sunday by the donors R’ Shneur Minsky of Crown Heights and R’ Duby Minsky of Flatbush and their families.
Another donor, R’ Chaim Piekarski, CEO of C+A Global, a retailer of consumer products and electronics, was honored with affixing a Mezuzah.
Those present at the opening ceremony wished that the center will be a home for the sound of Torah learning.
For now, the center will be open during the summer season. But with a growing year-round Jewish presence in the ‘country’, Rabbi Mann said they might consider operating it year-round.
