Today, Chaf Kislev, November 28th, Lamplighters is launching a 32 hour campaign to fuel wholeness, integration and personalization in Jewish education.
Reclaiming school as a learning community focused around our children, Lamplighters was born from the collective belief that every child deserves a personalized education to actualize their unique mission in this world. Together, this visionary team of educators, families, and community members has sought to recognize the individual possibility and potential of each unique neshama.
Since 2010, Lamplighters has been proud to serve as the vanguard in Jewish education. Beginning more than modestly, their first class consisted of twelve boys ages 3 – 5. Through the years, hundreds of students, five Charidy campaigns, and three campuses, Lamplighters has grown like a beautiful Rube Goldberg Machine with every student and faculty member fulfilling a role only they could fill.
Years of constant and vigorous research and development have brought together a true synthesis of Chassidus and student-centric teaching techniques. Backed by behavioral science, Lamplighters has been able to create a fully customizable learning experience for each individual child. The result is a deeper internalization of one’s education, in which each moment is is fueled by matters―a child’s relationship with and understanding of the One Above, their understanding and relationship with academics, and their understanding and relationships with themselves and the world around them.
Moments matter. And through its dynamic synthesis of Jewish studies, Montessori methodologies, research and development, technology and radical transparency, Lamplighters catalyzes the power and potential impact of every moment to educate our students. By focusing on the needs of each child, rather than broad general strokes, Lamplighters has developed a model that truly individualizes learning and grows along with students to meet the next level of educational excellence. This extraordinary commitment has garnered them awards and grants from the Mayberg Foundation, for developing a dynamic Gemara curriculum, and the Kohelet Foundation, as well as CIJE for their STEM curriculum. Within, the Yeshivah has found its own rewards: students started their own Mishmar shiur in gemara and have gone on to spearhead their own shul, the Pintele Shtiebel– a shul run by kids, for kids. After recently davening with the shul, Rav Nachman Wilhelm, esteemed Torah scholar and seasoned educator, described his experience as “one of the most beautiful davenings I have ever been a part of.”
In a commitment to solidify their structure and up their standards, Lamplighters is investing in better financial oversight (the first school In Crown Heights to release our annual report to the public), assessment criterion and parent communication. We’ve hired a full-time, on-site Judaics curriculum designer to fill create personalized curriculum that’s being shared with other schools.
On Nov. 28th, Lamplighters Yeshivah will partner with Charidy, in a 32 hour all or nothing matching campaign to raise $500,000. Starting at 11AM, every dollar given to the campaign will be tripled thanks to the generous support support of matchers and donors. Every dollar received is another brick in the foundation of the brightest future possible.
