Ever-ready to showcase student talent and emphasize Jewish ideas, Chabad House for Students of the Arts created Inner Expressions, a unique student fashion show, to inspire students and the greater Jewish community of Philadelphia about the essence of Jewish femininity.
The women-only event took place on Thursday evening, November 17 at 7:30 pm in the Gershman Y’s Levitt Auditorium, in Center City, Philadelphia.
“This fashion show was the ideal way to bring together students from various disciplines—fashion, jewelry, dance, theater, photography, graphic design and more—and challenge them both artistically and spiritually,” said Reuvena Grodnitzky, co-director of Chabad of the Arts and the program’s organizer.
“And the students involved got great recognition for their work at the same time as well.”
The fashion show featured four student designers—from University of the Arts, Moore College of Art and Design, the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Drexel University—as well as eight student models. The evening’s program also included a student dance performance, three jewelry kiosks with student designs for sale, an inspirational guest speaker and an elegant dessert buffet.
“It was such a lovely night! Thanks for giving me and the other designers an opportunity to showcase our work in such a beautiful way,” said Shelby Kay, one of the student designers.
“It’s so important for young women to have a sense of pride and dignity in both their appearance and identity,” said Grodnitzky. “We hope that this show empowered the students, as well as all of the 100 women in attendance, to express their inner essence.”
Love it!!
