A full scale International Conference of Shluchos is uncertain at this time, due to concerns of COVID 19, COLlive.com has learned.
The Conference gathers Shluchos from around the world each year around Chof Beis Shvat, who unite for 4 days of sessions, events and workshops. The Kinus concludes with a gala banquet on Sunday night.
The leadership of the Kinus has been in talks with medical professionals on whether or not the conference should take place due to the recent uptick in coronavirus cases around the world, and particularly in Crown Heights.
“As the current COVID climate evolves, particularly with numerous cases in New York and Crown Heights, the team of Doctors who have successfully guided the Kinus HaShluchim suggested that if the situation does not improve and the spike continues to rise, it may not be safe and prudent to have the Kinus HaShluchos in person at this time,” the Vaad Hakinus has announced.
“We ask you to be patient to see how the situation develops,” they said. “We will keep you updated as we explore various alternative in-person kinus formats.”
Omicron is literally a common cold! The tip five symptoms are runny nose, sore throat, fatigue, sneezing, and a headache. There are zero reported confirmed Omicron deaths in the US (the one from Texas happened to be positive when he died from other comorbidities).
My friends who had it said it was a bad cold. And there are now prevention and treatments available. If nobody gets covid then community immunity stays low and you will continue to need boosters.
Thanks, doctor.
Instead of relying on scare propaganda. Everyone in my home had it and the schools. No serious reports back. Why take an experimental vaccine when it’s now proven not to work?
COVID is a dumb excuse to cancel everything.
People should be a bit more resilient.
Perhaps we could have something in person on a smaller scale, shluchos could come alone without bringing along community members. This would limit the crowd size.
There already wasnt going to be a guest program. This is the right thing to do. What a chilul hashem it will be when shluchos bring covid back to their towns around the world and how the outside will view Lubavitch when they hear and see of such a large gathering.
but its ok for obama to throw a party for 700 people. oh i forgot they are elite , like all the other dem politicians
People are getting coronavirus who had it a year ago near Purim. They didn’t get vaccinated because they thought they would not get it again. How long is a person immune after having covid?
Getting vaccinated is the only way to end this nightmare.
true , the vaccination will end it . but we want to live not end out lives
it was 2 yrs ago. everyone needs to remember that. 2 weeks to curve and now were almost on 3 yrs with this scam. enough. everyone especially a yid a chassidishe yid needs to have emunah and bitachon
millions are dead….where’s the scam? I question whether someone who doesn’t care about so so many dead yidden can truly call themself “chassidish.” Hashem has given us a vaccine to protect ourselves. where is your emunah in Hashem? I truly now understand how yidden wanted to stay in Mitzrayim instead of leaving with Moshe after seeing the frum community’s response to the vaccine. please please listen to sense and get vaccinated.
Its the right thing to do! Better not to takea chance!
The shluchos need it!
There is no guest program and many women won’t be coming because they either cannot come to the US, or will have difficulty going back home
So happy the leadership is even considering this bold move. Especially since the leadership in individual communities are lax in taking responsibility for preventing the spread.
Have the kinus in Florida. We are open here. No covid restrictions. No chillul Hashem. And nice weather
florida is the place
Covid already ruined way too many things. The shluchos need it, especially the young shluchos (kids kinus) who many of them never see frum people at all! This is their way to unite and recharge. They wait for it all year to actually see their friends and be in an atmosphere like kinus. People who are saying it should close probably never actually experienced kinus. It really really gives these shluchos the strength to continue the rebbes work. Of course if their was actual danger here yes maybe it can’t happen But their isn’t danger. Covid can ruin this again.
the VIRUS has ruined lives, killed many, and harmed the community irreparably. the shluchos need their health for their sake and their families. I am happy the rabbonim are following Torah and being careful instead of flagrant with peoples’ lives.
Just insist that everyone is vaccinated
Why are ppl saying get vaccinated as a solution? The vaccine doesn’t stop you catching it or spreading it.
I live in Australia where 95% of the population is vaxxed and covid is spreading more than ever. Perhaps you could argue that the vaccine helps to reduce symptoms and avoid icu but anyway omicron is a more mild variant…
I think the issue is if guests catch it they may get stuck in ny isolating and not get home when they meant to
