A car accident at about 3:30 PM on Monday afternoon stopped just short of crashing into a store on Kingston Avenue.
Witnesses said a white van collided with an SUV, sending the van careening onto the sidewalk on the corner of Kingston Avenue near Crown Street.
Safety barriers at the corner held the van from crashing through the store window of Apple Drugs, it appears from photos of the crash. Thankfully no pedestrians were struck in the crash.
The driver of the van was transported to the hospital, witnesses said.
The driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene.
Those safety barriers – and a good mezzuzah – were worth every penny
You see the Rebbe is with us!

I was going round a roundabout/circle this morning and a woman was stopped to let me continue to go round. Then as I’m almost directly in front of her she started to drive, almost hitting me. I slammed on the brakes and gave her my best glare. She didn’t care. OBEY TRAFFIC LAWS! They are there for a reason.
Pure miracle that no one walking by was struck or crushed by that accident. At any time there could have been a dozen people and kids standing on that corner.
Enough with the reckless driving and speeding and gunning yellow lights in narrow residential streets packed with pedestrians!!! Something needs to be done. We can not rely on miracles.
